Advantages for International Students

Competitive advantages

  • In the heart of Canada - Situated as close to Vancouver as to Toronto; Los Angeles to New York, Beijing to London, Saskatoon is a great place to relocate to for study, because from here, the whole country is accessible, opening a wealth of options for internships and study placements, as well as career opportunities after graduation.
  • Multicultural - Not only is Canada's multicultural society considered a success around the world and used as a model for other countries, Saskatoon certainly reflects the same values. Residents in the city represent every continent, every faith and every ethnicity. People from Rio to Tokyo have chosen to make new homes in Saskatoon and enjoy the opportunities for education and employment. The university community and the city values tolerance and strives to promote and preserve cultural identities of all new residents. The mulit-ethnic community in Saskatoon is extremely warm, friendly and welcoming to international students and it is a very safe environment for meeting new friends.
  • Intensive use of English language - The tendency for international students arriving in larger Canadian centres like Vancouver or Toronto is to rely heavily on large and well connected ethnic communities, depriving themselves of opportunities to master the English language in a variety of settings. In Saskatoon, students have access to the university's top-notch ESL program, and can immediately use their training as business, academics, and social interaction are conducted almost exclusively in English, creating a competitive advantage for international students.

Services for international students

International students receive support while studying at the U of S - both before arrival and once they're here. The International Student Office (ISO) provides support and services to all international students and their families, including pre-departure and arrival services, a special International Student Handbook, assistance with immigration issues, special interest sessions and more.

Successful completion of the CSLI Level 50: High Advanced Academic English program will satisfy the proof of English proficiency required for admission to the University.

Opportunities for careers in Canada

Once you are established in the Edwards MBA at the U of S, there will be many opportunities for you to meet local business leaders and alumni and get information about careers within Canada. Because Saskatchewan's economy is largely export-based, there are many opportunities to gain contacts with local companies doing business around the globe, even in your home country. For more information, read up on MBA Career Services, and visit the Government of Canada's Citizenship and Immigration website to determine your eligibility.
